On Sunday 11th October we welcome back the Rev Bryan Coates as the final returning member of Beckminster to preach as part of the Centenary year. Bryan has preached before several times from our pulpit but this will be the first time in quite a while, so whilst familiar to his contemporaries in Questors he will be new to many others.
After 40 years of Ministry - 5 appointments including the United Church of Zambia through MMS, he retired in 2007, but throughout his retirement so far he has been an Active Supernumerary, serving in four different Circuits for various periods as their Acting Superintendent.
Bryan was baptised at Beck back in 1942 as a very small child by the Rev Mortimer Sinfield (who initiated Questors Youth Club one year later),went right through Sunday School with teachers like Miss Shale and Miss Upham, including the Seniors group led by Mr and Mrs Hall - they didn’t have Christian names in those far off days! For Bryan and his faith, it was Questors that was the formative influence with the Moxhams, Gwen Blandford et al. He was Devotional Secretary for one year and heavily involved with the Tractor appeal in the early sixties. While at Beck he responded to the 'Call' to full time Ordained Ministry, went through Local Preacher Training and candidated in 1963/4.
