During our Centenary Year we will be welcoming back previous members of the Congregation who have gone on to serve in the ministry of the Church. On Sunday February 8th we welcome Brenda Shuttleworth as the first preacher to lead worship and help us celebrate our centenary.
Brenda joined Questors in 1968, for four fun-filled, thought-provoking years which gave her a firm foundation for her Christian faith.
Returning to Wolverhampton in 1977 she joined Young Beck, a group inspired by Revd. Jim Hutchens for the ‘young twenties’.
Brenda married Phil Shuttleworth in 1988, and subsequently daughters Catherine and Rosie came along and were baptised at Beckminster.
She taught in the Senior Department of the Junior Church a few years later.
Brenda helped in establishing Beckminster as a Fairtrade Church. Fair trade continues to be important to her and Phil volunteering at Wolverhampton Fair Traid and helping to organise fair trade events around the circuit.
Brenda worked as Circuit Administrator and then as District Administrator and Synod Secretary which opened up some wonderful opportunities to work with inspiring Christian people.
She is currently a steward at Crossways Methodist Church at Wombourne serving on its church council.
She is a Local Preacher serving in the Wolverhampton Circuit and happily accepted the invitation to lead worship as part of our Centenary celebrations.
